I am a small Miniature Dachshund breeder located in Northern California.
Little D's Dachshunds includes myself, my husband and my son, they are part of everything that goes on here and I couldn't manage without them.
I breed mostly wire hairs and occasionally smooth coats in red, black and tan and wild boar.
The wire hairs are my passion, I think they are so so special.
I do currently show in AKC conformation. I show on the weekends all over Northern California. We love to meet families at shows!!! If you are interested in meeting us and the dogs we are currently showing contact me for our upcoming show schedule.
My dogs live in the house and are members of our family. All of our puppies are well socialized and handled daily.
We always encourage families to come and meet us and their puppy. We feel it is important to see the atmosphere in which your puppy has been raised, because it will have an impact on who they are as adults and they carry those experiences with them for a lifetime.
We do not have a "facility", our puppies are raised in our home with our family, they are a part of everything we do in our day to day life.
With that being said, we do not allow puppies to be viewed before 5 weeks old. It can cause undue stress to the mothers. Our main concern is for the wellbeing of our dogs. When you come to our home it must specifically be to see your puppy that you have already placed a deposit on or to see a particular puppy.
For the safety of our family and our puppies we like to keep exposure to outside disease and bacteria to a minimum. We understand that's placing a lot of trust in us. We have been doing this a long time now, we can also offer our Veterinarian and previous families that have visited our home as a reference.
The puppies are vet checked at 8 weeks and have had vaccinations and de-wormings according to what is age appropriate. We do early neurological stimulation on our puppies and have started to incorporate puppy culture training methods.
I do my best to breed to the AKC standard set in place by our parent club, The Dachshund Club of America.
Quality, health, temperament and conformation are my top priorities as a Dachshund breeder. While I do my best to stay within the size range for a miniature stated in the AKC standard, 11 pounds or under at one year of age. Size or weight does not enter into the equation for me in considering quality. If size/weight is a main concern for you, I may not be the right breeder for you. I do NOT breed for extremely small or "micro" mini sized Dachshunds. The majority of my puppies mature to 10-12 pounds. Some being bigger, some being smaller. I can not gaurantee the full grown size of a puppy.
A non-refundable deposit is required to hold your puppy. Due to rising costs there has been a price increase this year. I have done research on what puppies and specifically Wire Hair Dachshunds are being sold for in our area, we've tried to stay right in the middle price wise, we're not the least and we're not the most.
The majority of our litters are out of champions, this ensures the quality of the puppy and that they exemplify breed type. All of our litters are thoughtfully bred, taking into consideration health, genetics and complimentary pedigrees. We often travel to find studs that will bring in desirable qualities for our current puppies and future litters.
All prices quoted are for limited registration. Pet puppies sold with limited registration are sold outright. Only the absolute best puppies are available with full registration to experienced show homes, after an 8 and 12 week evaluation. They will be sold on a co-ownership with a detailed contract. I generally keep what I want to show and/or breed. It is my preference that puppies are placed as companions with families.
All puppies must be paid in full by 8 weeks old. We do NOT take credit cards or PayPal as a form of payment. We do now use Venmo.
Prices and rules are non-negotiable.
